This very well may be in the next Hankness.
Daring submission with the Classical choice, but i think it'll pay off.

great pads, intro
the initial feel is great! Ambient pads... a really sweet bassy synth also hitting high ranges. The percussion was actually quite decent.
I think the transition just before the minute mark was great and needed, i was about to type how it needed some growth and variation, but you put it in.
I think this is one of your better songs.
Definitely a 5.
Some advice... i would consider making this a 7 minute song... u know, not a radio edit, but like a legit music tracks that get mixed. So think up some ideas to keep changing and growing.... i'm really impressed with this piece.
Beautiful.
The ambient was wonderful. - zero complaints
The first trance was a brilliant transition, 100 wins for that.
The classical part was okay... reverb was sexellent!.... though it was boring and uneventful and I wasn't 100% convinced by that.
The Dance was not too different from the Trance, no extra brownie points for that... i would have chosen to then go to DnB and and give some wicked break beats.... then to a dance / trance.
However, as a whole... this song was very enjoyable to listen to... i'm downloading it, and favoriting.
If i were a judge or could help you win I would.
Well, still need practice with DnB, I may have made one w/o knowing, but so far I haven't made one. To me, dance is either music you find at the club and trance focuses most on the melodies and effects, I may or may not be wrong, but thats how I think.
Thx for the great review
i really enjoyed this.
The the synth that waves back in and out is perfect... got a lot of depth to it, i really like how full / yet distroted it sounds.
The score was well written.
I honestly don't have criticism for this piece. i even downloaded it.
5-ed
guitar
I loved the subtlety of everything around the main guitar / then piano.
A lot of talent in this. Not much to comment... i would hope you would make this in to a full ambient, or even trance song! Just would be awesome!
I can't see how I would trance this one out. :D
Bring to my mind?
With the brass instrument (Link from Zelda)
Then the lead piano thought of Last of the Mohicans.
Then at around 1:05 plus i had no one in mind.
Then around 1:45 (voices) it reminded me of Final Fantasy (Don't ask me why)
2:25 bells Tinkerbell / Peterpan.
So i guess overall this reminded me of movies characters, lol.
Very well written piece, good mastering.
Enjoy this 5 from me.
Brass instrument?
Oh, no no no, my friend, there was no brass involved in this song at all!
There's the piano (two different pianos, actually, but that's a minor technicality)
Then the oboe/bassoon split (which is not brass at all)
An acoustic guitar (which you really have to be listening for to pick out, but it's there, fret noises and all, I spent too much time on it and made it almost a non-entity)
A glockenspiel (which is the high-pitched bell sound)
A tubular bell (well, that's damn unmistakable)
Vocals (of course synthesized)
and finally my favorite,
The Saxophone (which is NOT a brass instrument. It's a woodwind, by virtue of being a reeded instrument. This particular saxophone is a tenor sax.)
But I'm glad you liked it! Forgive my rant please! :D
decent
Well i rated it 9/10, but it was more of a 8.75 / 10
1) Make longer please.
2) Make pads less repetative (progress the chord) please.
I really like the percussion though, and the numerous effects on them... so many effects...lol.
So i'm a little confused why this hasn't been allowed in the competition?
It sounds like it fits the genre and everything.
Oh well, hope everything gets figured out... i thought this would do well in the comp.
oh and enjoy a nice fat 5 from me (respect)
It wasnt accepted into the comp because of the vocal sample. its not because it was innappropriate and such, rather it was copywritten and it needed like origin and such
I tried to make the song longer, but i juiced my creativeness to the rind after 4 days of work. The pads were just filler really. i thought they fit relatively well. :P
anyways thanks for the review man
i like
This is going to do well.
Sincerely,
Jealous of skills.
PS - no need to respond... just a shout out to a great piece.
